New Delhi : India’s Sania Mirza and Mahesh Bhupathi won the women’s and the men’s doubles titles respectively at the Pilot Pen tennis tournament at New Haven, US.
The third seeded Sania and her Italian partner Mara Santangelo defeated top seeds Cara Black of Zimbabwe and South African Liezel Huber 6-1, 6-2 in the women’s doubles final Saturday night.
In the men’s doubles final, top seeds Bhupathi and Nenad Zimonjic of Serbia lived up to their reputation and defeated fourth seeds Polish duo Mariusz Fyrstenberg and Marcin Matkowski 6-3, 6-3 earlier in the day.
Playing in their just second event together, Sania won her seventh career doubles title and fourth this year while Mara clinched her sixth career doubles title and fifth this year.
