New Delhi : While Appealing for maintaining communal harmony and peace in wake of Saturday’s serial blasts in Hyderabad, Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh suggested setting up of a permanent fund for providing relief to the victims of terror attacks in his security-review meeting here today following the Hyderabad blasts.
Singh also asked the citizens not to fall prey to “nefarious designs of terrorists and anti-national forces.
The suggestion came during a high-level meeting chaired by him at his residence during which Home Minister Shivraj Patil apprised him of the situation in Hyderabad in the aftermath of the blasts on Saturday night.
Patil briefed the meeting about his visit to the Andhra Pradesh capital earlier on Sunday and his interaction with Chief Minister Y S Rajasekhar Reddy and other senior state government officials.
Media Advisor to the Prime Minister Sanjaya Baru said, the meeting reviewed the entire information available on the bomb blasts and the security situation.
During the meeting, the prime minister spoke about the need for the central government to set up a permanent fund for providing relief to victims of such attacks, he added.
Dr. Singh also appealed to all sections of the society to maintain communal harmony and peace, especially in view of the coming festival season, and asked the citizens not to fall prey to the “nefarious designs of terrorists and anti-national forces,” Baru said.
The meeting was also attended by National Security Advisor M K Narayanan, Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta, Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrasekhar and Director of the Intelligence Bureau P C Haldar.
Hyderabad, capital city of Andhra Pradesh was rocked by serial blasts on August 25. 40 people were killed while 100 others were injured in the dastardly act.
