Islamabad : The Pakistani government has identified two suicide attackers who blew themselves in F-8 Markaz and in Aabpara Market as Yar Muhammad and Khana Din residents of Waziristan.
Spokesman of Interior Ministry Brig ® Javed Iqbal Cheema told a weekly media briefing that Islamabad Police had busted a network of terrorists who were responsible for the two suicide attacks in Islamabad.
The five suspects arrested by Islamabad Police were identified as Fasih Ullah Khan (Tipu), Imdad Hussain (Rambo), Qasim Mushtaq (Rashid) and Nasir Mahmood (Karim) and Faisal Mushtaq.
Cheema said Fasih Ullah of D.I.Khan was the mastermind of suicide attacks and he had been planning and directing the suicide attacks in and around Islamabad.
He stayed in Lal Masjid from January till end June this year and during his stay there he helped in preparation of 400 petrol bombs, the Spokesman said.
He said the suicide bombers and the arrested suspects used two Madaris, one in Islamabad and one in Rawalpindi as their abode and hideout.
The police is investigating into the case, he said adding “We will share more details as and when available.”
Cheema welcomed the unconditional release of 19 security forces personnel in South Waziristan Tuesday saying, “We expect that such acts would not be repeated in future.”
He said the Government strongly condemns the despicable suicide attacks in the tribal areas in the past week.
These cowardly acts are part of heinous designs of terrorists and anti-state elements to shake the resolve of the government and its security apparatus to weed out the menace of terrorism, he added.
The Spokesman said the law enforcement agencies continue to maintain a high state of alert throughout the country. As a result they have been successful in thwarting numerous attempts to kill innocent people and cause damage to public property.
He said the law enforcement apparatus also prevented attempts by saboteurs to carry out sabotage acts in Balochistan on August 26.
There are only a handful of people in Balochistan who are trying to disrupt peace in the province he said adding the government would not allow handful of these people to hinder the process of development.
“These are the people who are against progress and prosperity of the province where development projects worth billions of rupees are in progress.”
He reiterated that government and the LEAs would not be deterred by such acts and the federal and provincial governments would hunt down and foil the nefarious designs of anti-state elements who want to create chaos in the society.
Cheema said that during the week under review government of Pakistan and the Government of United Kingdom signed an important agreement on exchange of prisoners. This is an important agreement which would encourage social rehabilitation of sentenced persons by giving them the opportunity to complete their sentences in their own countries.
