Karachi : Pakistan fast bowler Mohammad Asif, who missed the tour of India because of a chronic elbow injury, has undergone surgery in Australia.
A Pakistan cricket Board (PCB) official said a well-known Australian specialist in Sydney carried out the surgery Monday. Initial reports are that it was not a major operation and has been successful, said Shafqat Naghmi, chief operating officer of the PCB.
However, it could take up to three months before Asif resumes playing, which means he will miss next month’s home series against Zimbabwe.
Asif is now trying to be fit in time for the home series against Australia tentatively scheduled for March 9.
