Appearing before Metropolitan Magistrate Tarun Sehrawat, Assistant Commissioner of Police G. Ramgopal Naik assured the court that the probe would now be speedy.

The court has asked the ACP to submit the status report by Dec 22 and record the statements of Mona Suri’s family members.

Suri, a 35-year-old fashion designer, was allegedly set afire by two motorcycle borne men who poured kerosene on her outside her south Delhi home Aug 12. She succumbed to her injuries Oct 21.

Her father, Manjeet Bawa, alleged in the court that though the police had seized a diary in which his daughter had hinted at ill treatment from her husband Naveen Suri, no breakthrough has been achieved so far.

Naveen was apparently having an affair with another woman to which his wife objected.

On Dec 11, the police filed a status report in the court. The report, however, reportedly did not contain details of the probe.
