Ahmedabad : Sonia Gokani, the judge at an anti-terror court here that was hearing a number of high-profile cases, including the Godhra train burning tragedy and the terror attack on the Akshardham temple, has been transferred as the registrar of recruitment at the Gujarat High Court.
Court sources said Gokani received the transfer order two days ago.
The registrar general of the high court said Gokani was still to assume her new charge. Asked when she will do so, the official told IANS Wednesday: “The process is on.”
The state government had appointed Gokani, then the district sessions judge in Ahmedabad city, as the first judge of the Prevention of Terrorist Act (POTA) court in March 2003.
The special court is hearing all cases booked under the anti-terror law, including the murder of former minister of state for home Haren Pandya and the extra-judicial killing of Muslim youth Sohrabuddin Sheikh, which figured in the campaign before the Gujarat assembly elections last week.
