Agartala : Indian Air Force (IAF) will develop its existing infrastructure and capabilities in the northeast besides organising air shows to motivate youths to join the elite force, officials said here Thursday.
Air Marshal G.S. Kochar of the Eastern Air Command in Shillong was speaking to journalists here after an air show.
“The air show was organised to motivate youths to join IAF from the northeastern region and also to showcase the capabilities of the elite force,” the Air Marshal said.
“Such kind of awareness campaign of the IAF to demonstrate the skills and professionalism of the force personnel would continue across the country specially in the northeastern region,” Kochar added.
Thousands of people enjoyed world-class air shows performed by the two teams of the IAF – Suryakiran and Akash Ganga – led by wing commander Avinash Nandy and Kamal Singh respectively.
The Suryakiran, an aerobatics demonstration team of the IAF, used nine Kiran Mark-II planes to perform their talents, while eight paratroopers from the sky diving team Aakash Ganga displayed unique para-diving and hand-gliding skills.
“The dare devil show of flying with split second precision demands peak performance from both man and machine with no room for error or doubt,” the IAF official said.
