GM Jain visits BHEL Bhopal unit, suggests improvements

Bhopal: A.K. Jain, GM (Corporate Quality), Bharat Heavy Electricals Limited, (BHEL), visited various shop floors of BHEL Bhopal unit and suggested improvements.

Jain also made presentation to top management of the unit in the concluding session on some of the best practices adopted by the Hardwar Unit of BHEL, the winner of CII Prize in 2006. The session was chaired by R.K. Singh, Executive Director and was attended by all General Managers. Singh emphasized that teamwork is very essential in achieving higher goals. He called for concerted effort for achieving business excellence.

Jain in his presentation shared that initiatives such as ‘Quality Through Measurement’ and ‘Root Cause Analysis’ have helped Hardwar unit in achieving new heights in business excellence. He emphasized on importance of ‘5-S’ and felt that it gives first impression about the factory and is the foundation building block for all other improvements. He felt that basic fundamentals of quality are very strong in Bhopal unit. He shared that Bhopal unit was leader in implementation of ‘Total Quality Management’ in the corporation in earlier years and is still a leader in many key processes.

Earlier, Prabhat Kumar, GM (P & D) in his address thanked A.K. Jain for reviewing shop floors and for suggesting improvements. In the end, K. Purswani, AGM (BEX & EC) thanked A.K. Jain for sharing some of the best practices adopted by the sister unit and for taking time out from his busy schedule for visiting the Bhopal unit. ([email protected])
