Kuwait Interior Minister reaffirms support for border guards

Kuwait : Kuwaiti Minister of Interior Sheikh Jaber Khalid Al-Sabah reaffirmed Sunday support of the higher political leadership for the border guards.

The higher political leadership will continue offering all possible material and moral support for the border guards to help them keep up with the latest technological achievements, Sheikh Jaber pledged during an inspection tour of Kuwait’s northern border lines.

During the tour, Sheikh Jaber, accompanied by Assistant Interior Undersecretary for Border Security Major General Suleiman Al-Fahad, inspected 20 border posts.

The minister reviewed with senior officers the preparedness of the border guards and the plans to preserve the security of the homeland.

The senior officers briefed Sheikh Jaber on the operation mechanism of the border posts that helps detect infiltrators and control the border lines between Kuwait and Iraq.

The Kuwaiti-Iraqi border crossing points are bracing to receive Iraqi pilgrims returning from Saudi Arabia.

The minister urged the border guards to maintain a high level of vigilance, deal with any emergencies with full decisiveness and display a civilized face of Kuwait.

The minister conveyed to the border guards the Eid Al-Adha greetings of the political leadership at the core of which are His Highness the Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, HH the Crown Prince Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and HH the Prime Minister Sheikh Nasser Al-Muhammad Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah.

Meanwhile, Kuwaiti National Guards units held strategic training sessions to test the forces combat capabilities, said a military authority on Saturday.

The guards’ moral support department said that the training was ordered by Deputy Chief of the National Guards Sheikh Mishaal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, adding that the event included several steps beginning with the alert stage, preparing troops for advance combat positions and executing missions.

Participating officers were evaluated, it said, affirming that the training mission was successful.

It went on saying that heads of combat units were summoned from their vacations and they responded for the call, revealing that the whole event was to assess the readiness of National Guards’ troops.
