Aizawl : The lone Rajya Sabha member from Mizoram, Lalhmingliana has said that he would not support Vice President Bhairon Singh Shekhawat in the ensuing presidential polls for his alleged "indifference" towards issues concerning the northeast region.
Lalhmingliana said he did not like Shekhawat, an independent candidate supported by the opposition National Democratic Alliance, for his "indifference" towards issues related to the Northeast and the members of parliament from the region.
"My party, the Mizo National Front, which had recently snapped ties with the NDA, is yet to make a decision regarding supporting a presidential candidate. If I have to make my own choice, I would not like to vote for Shekhawat," he said.
He, however, said that he would abide by the decision of the party.
"Even as Shekhawat was elected to the post of Vice President, he repeatedly showed his indifference towards the MPs from the Northeast including those belonging to the NDA," he alleged.
