Ranchi : The Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officers in Jharkhand have expressed concern about the behaviour of the state’s politicians towards them.
In the latest incident last Monday, Congress member of parliament (MP) Chandrashekar Dubey and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha MP Teklal Mahto charged Bokaro Deputy Commissioner (DC) Sunil Kumar of issuing job cards under the National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme without their approval and threatened to transfer him within 24 hours.
They also accused Kumar of plundering the state’s coffers. On Wednesday, the MPs locked his chamber and courted arrest to lodge their protest.
Unhappy with the development, the IAS Officers Association (IOA) here has called a meeting Friday to discuss the issue.
“The legislators, MPs and ministers pass derogatory remarks against IAS officers and we are projected as the main hurdle in the state’s development. We try to abide by the rules, but the politicians want them to be bypassed,” said an IAS officer on condition of anonymity.
Last year, Chatra Lok Sabha MP Dhirendra Agrawal had charged the then Gumla DC
K.K. Son of corruption. Son, while defending himself, had demanded an inquiry into the charges against him.
