New Delhi : Former World Bank Consultant N.R. Bhasin has been elected as the new president of the Indian Dairy Association (IDA).
N.A. Shaikh and Arun Narke were elected as vice presidents Monday.
The IDA, established in 1948 is the apex body of the dairy industry in India.
Bhasin is a former state election commissioner of Rajasthan.
He also served as a former managing director of the Rajasthan Dairy Development Corporation, Rajasthan Cooperative Dairy Federation and was the principal secretary agriculture, industry and higher & technical education.
He also worked as the vice chancellor, Rajasthan Agriculture University, director, ministry of commerce and joint secretary, ministry of rural development.
The other members elected to the governing body were: G.R. Patil, Satish Kulkarni, Raja Rathinam, P.R. Patel, Rajnikant Kothari, M.P.S. Chadha, Arun Patil, G.S. Rajorhia, K.L. Arora and A.K. Khosla, a press release said.
The IDA functions closely with the dairy producers, professionals & planners, scientists & educationists, institutions and organisations, associated with the dairy sector in India.
