Moscow : India is keen to enter the lucrative construction business, particularly to build world-class hotels, in Russia's Black Sea resort city of Sochi, which will host 2014 Winter Olympics.
"Ahead of the winter Olympics in Sochi we are keen to build world class hotels here and would like to pick local contacts for this," Indian ambassador Kanwal Sibal said.
The Indian ambassador was speaking at a business meeting during his visit to the Krasnodar Territory in south Russia, known as the country's breadbasket and seaside resort land.
Sibal, who was accompanied by a delegation of Moscow-based Indian Business Alliance, said that Indian business would also be keen to participate in the Olympic preparations of Sochi for which the Russian government has earmarked USD 13 billion.
The envoy also expressed India's desire to pick Sochi as a stopover for the growing number of Indian carriers' flights to Europe, Krasnodar-based Kuban TV reported.
Russia won the bid to host winter Olympics in 2014 in Sochi at the International Olympic Committee session in Guatemala City earlier this month.Â
