According to organisers from the World Refining Association (WRA), the February 2008 symposium will address concerns covering all facets of the fuel industry from strategic planning to technological perspective, WAM news agency reported.

It will also outline updates on the future of motor, aviation, marine and bunker fuels in the Middle East and review the region's refining projects involving production of cleaner fuels, including low sulphur diesel.

Other issues include developments in standards within the Gulf countries as compared to international practice and alternative fuels like hydrogen, ethanol, gas-to-liquids (GTL) as well as liquefied natural gas (LNG).

The latest technology developments to aid the production of cleaner fuels will also be delved upon during the conference.
