The operation will be carried out by the group's IT subsidiary Infoco that provides IT services for the entire group, according to INEPNext news service.

Philip Cattrysse, director of the Colruyt's IT department, said here that its Indian division will be based in Hyderabad.

The company has already recruited and started training 15 personnel. Initially, it will engage 30-35 people in India.

He explained that Colruyt chose to base its IT division in India because it has been already working with Indian companies for the past two years.

The company at present employs 430 staff members at its headquarters in the city of Halle. It had 150 vacancies for IT jobs that it was unable to fill in Belgium.

Cattrysse clarified that the number of personnel who will be engaged in its IT division in India will depend on the number of vacancies that the company can fill in Belgium itself.
