Amman : Participants in an international conference on Iraqi refugees held here confirmed that the best and realistic solution to the problem of the Iraqi refugees in the host countries is for them to return home.

To achieve that end, realising security and stability in Iraq is essential through a political process in which all the Iraqi political and religious sects take part, they said, noting that "any solution outside Iraq is temporary or partial."

They also stressed that the host countries had the full right regarding allowing Iraqi refugees into their soil and their residence in line with their own laws.

However, the conference noted that any relevant issues could be settled within a bilateral framework.

The one-day event Thursday emphasized the necessity of providing international support to the services sector in the host countries especially health and education.

In addition, the relevant international institutions should cooperate with these countries to help them stand the impact on their economy, infrastructure and power sources due to hosting the refugees.

Attending the conference were Iraq, Egypt, Syria, Jordan, the Arab League and the UN and its specialised organisations. Turkey, Japan, Iran and Russia were also there as observers.
