Rains continue to lash Mumbai, traffic disrupted

Mumbai : Heavy rains continued to lash the city today causing inconvenience to office goers as road and rail traffic was disrupted following incessant rains last night, met officials said.

"Heavy rainfall will continue through the day but will not be as heavy as yesterday", C V V Bhadram, Deputy Director General, Indian Met Department, said.

Due to water logging at various low lying areas, both Central and Harbour lines of the Railways are running atleast 20 to 30 minutes late and traffic jams were reported at several places on both Western and Eastern Express highway, railway and road traffic sources said.

The rainfall recorded in Colaba observatory (in the city) during the 24 hours till 8 30 am today was: Colaba- 83.2 mm and suburban Santa Cruz – 98.8mm.
