Madrid : The Spanish Air Force has been looking for several days for a dummy missile that fell off an F-18 warplane in the eastern province of Cuenca, Spanish news agency EFE reported.
The search has focused on an area between the towns of Alarcon and Vallehermoso de la Fuente, and around the reservoir in the first town, where the pilot reported losing the missile.
The El Dia de Cuenca newspaper reported Sunday that the missile was not dangerous because it "does not have an explosive warhead" and was of a type used for training.
The search is being conducted "under top secrecy", it said, citing officials, and "few mayors" in the area have been told about the incident.
