The DoT has asked the telemarketing agencies to file their registration in a prescribed proforma by paying a registration fee of Rs.1,000 for each telemarketing centre, said an official statement here.

The registration thus issued would be valid for 10 years. Any telemarketer who is currently providing service but is not registered can register latest by Aug 31.

"The telemarketers shall scrupulously follow the orders/directions/regulations issued by DoT/TRAI on the unsolicited commercial communication including scrubbing of the list of the subscribers to be called for telemarketing purpose through the National Do Not Call (NDNC) registry of National Informatics Centre (NIC)," DoT said.

On Tuesday, the telecom watchdog announced regulations on UCC including a fine of Rs.500 if a UCC is made to a user whose number is registered with the NDNC.
