Amin, who had not been responding to the summons by the CID, however has been asked to report to the Central Investigation Department (CID) within three days. He is to report to the CID every first Monday of the month.

The court has also ordered him not to influence any witness, since Inspector General of Police Geeta Johri, who has been given complete independence to investigate the case by the Supreme Court, had said in the court that Amin was trying to influence witnesses.

The present probe has led to the arrest of some police officers including three senior IPS officers – DIG (Border Range) DG Vanzara, Rajkumar Pandian and Alwar (Rajasthan) Superintendent MN Dinesh Kumar.
Vanzara and Pandian were part of the team that killed Sohrabuddin Sheikh. They have also been accused of killing his wife, Kausar Bi.
Sohrabuddin was reportedly gunned down on November 26, 2005 after being branded a Lashkar-e-Toiba militant by the Gujarat Police, allegedly trying to hatch a conspiracy to kill Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi.

CID Crime is investigating the case directly under the supervision of the Supreme Court following a petition by the brother of Sohrabuddin.

The Sohrabuddin fake encounter case has given way to the surfacing of several other fake encounter cases.
