Habib Akhtar appointed Delhi Haj Committee chairman

New Delhi: In a move to be much appreciated, Delhi Governement ignored politicians to make Senior Journalist and trade union leader Habib Akhtar chairman of the Delhi Haj Committee.

A notification has been issued in this regard on Monday announcing his appointment. Along with Akhtar, Congress legislator Pervez Hashmi, Shaikh Asghar Ali and a Government official have been made members of the committee. This committee is formed after a gap of two years. Three more members will be added later.

Habib Akhtar works for Hindi daily Navbharat Times.

Akhtar, who have been on Haj, has said that he would use his pilgrim experience to improve the facility for the Hajis.

A few years ago, he was adjudged as the 'Best Reporter' by the Bureau of Legislative Studies of Delhi Vidhan Sabha. Akhtar was also associated with the governing body of the Delhi University's colleges.
