Toronto : An Indian Canadian man whose wife was allegedly stabbed by his mother three years ago testified that his relatives repeatedly urged the couple to drop the court case.
Paul Toor's mother, Surinder Toor, sister Parvinder Toor and cousin Rajwansh Nijjar are charged in connection with an alleged assault on Reena Toor, Paul's wife, in 2004.
Paul testified in the British Columbia Supreme Court Thursday that on four occasions he and Reena were asked by his uncle Hurinder Toor and cousins to drop the charges.
Reena told investigators that Surinder hit her on the head with a baseball bat and stabbed her in the stomach with a small knife while Parvinder and Rajwansh helped in the assault and kept her captive in a car, canada.com reported.
Paul also repeated his wife's earlier testimony about Surinder's demand that Reena should pay $50,000 in dowry.
