"We have decided to defer the date of announcing the technically qualified bidder till Thursday," Neemo Dhar, public relations director of the Delhi Development Authority, said here Tuesday.

"Emaar MGF is still the lone bidder for the project but we are looking into the legalities as the group is a joint venture," Dhar told IANS.

Emaar MGF, a joint venture between the Dubai-based Emaar Properties and India's MGF group, emerged as the sole bidder for the Rs.7-billion ($170 million) project which is to come up in east Delhi.

The joint venture was among the 11 that had bid for the prestigious project. The project was criticised by environmental activists because it is to come up on the riverbed of the Yamuna.

Around 8,000 homes will be built for the Commonwealth Games that starts Oct 3, 2010.
