"Delhi Metro is yet to tap its full potential," Reddy said while releasing a UN report on 'State Of World Population 2007' here.

"We have not fully utilised Delhi Metro primarily because we do not have enough feeder services. Connectivity to all metro stations is not sufficient.

"We have asked the Delhi government to increase connectivity and arrange for other facilities so that people can get the maximum benefit," the minister said.

The sleek transport medium currently covers a network of 65 km and 118 km more will be added within next 30 months. At present, Delhi Metro earns Rs.6 million from ticket sales everyday.

"Urbanisation is a necessity but in doing so we need to take care of the transport facilities. There is limit to road width and its capacity to hold traffic and we are urging people to use public transport more prominently," Reddy said.

He said the central government has already given a go ahead to bus rapid transit system in various cities like Nagpur, Pune and Mumbai, besides the national capital.
