Addis Ababa : Ethiopia’s Ministry of Culture and Tourism is undertaking preparations to stage exhibitions in various European and American cities to promote actual images of the country in connection with the forthcoming Ethiopian Millennium.
Minister of State for Culture and Tourism Tadelech Dalecho told Ethiopian News Agency (ENA) here Tuesday that the ministry attached due attention to promoting the cultural and tourism resources of the country throughout the world.
The Millennium celebrations provided a good opportunity to promote the good image of the country, Tadelech said, adding that the ministry had undertaken massive activities during the current year aimed at improving the country’s image.
A cultural village that reflects the culture, history and identity of nations and nationalities of Ethiopia would be constructed here in the coming year, she added.
Several foreigners and Ethiopians in the Diaspora are expected to attend the Millennium festivities in Ethiopia, she said. Service providing organizations, enterprises and the public at large shouldered a huge responsibility to provide efficient services and to show hospitality to the Millennium guests, she added.
The government has called on Ethiopian and those of Ethiopian origin residing abroad to use the new Ethiopian Millennium to pull the country out of the quagmire of poverty and backwardness, she said.
