Three names proposed for next AMU VC

Aligarh: A Special Meeting of the Aligarh Muslim University Court, the supreme governing body of the University, today recommended a panel of three names to be the next Vice Chancellor.

 

Professor P K Abdul Azis, current Vice Chancellor of Cochin University of cience and Technology; Lt. General Zameeruddin Shah, who is Deputy Chief f the Army Staff and Professor S.N. Pathan, Vice Chancellor of Rashtrasant Tukovoji Maharaj University, Nagpur are the names recommended by the AMU Court.

The meeting was presided by the AMU Chancellor, Justice A.M. Ahmadi, Former Chief Justice of India. One hundred eleven members of the University Court attended the meeting.

Panel of names will be forwarded to the President of India as a Visitor of the University. President will select one of these names for the appointment of the new Vice Chancellor.

 

AMU community of students, teachers and alumni have for long demanded that an academician be made the VC to improve the academic standard of the university.

Yesterday, the Executive Council at its special meeting recommended a panel of five names to the University Court, out of which the Court selected the above-stated three names.
