Deputy Inspector General (Border Range) D.G. Vanzara, Superintendent of Police (Intelligence Bureau) Rajkumar Pandian – both of Gujarat – and Superintendent of Police M.N. Dinesh Kumar of Rajasthan were brought to the Ahmedabad Metropolitan Court amid tight security.

The court decided to hear on May 25 the prosecution's petition for narco-analysis tests on the trio. The Crime Investigation Department (CID) had filed the petition Saturday when the three Indian Police Service (IPS) officers' police remand was extended to Tuesday.

The officers were arrested here April 24 on the charges of killing one Sohrabuddin Sheikh, a resident of Madhya Pradesh.

Sheikh was killed in a shootout with police here Nov 26, 2005. Police had then claimed he was a terrorist and was planning to target Chief Minister Narendra Modi. However, a CID enquiry showed that Sheikh was merely a petty criminal and the shootout was staged.

The CID also presented in the court the three policemen who were arrested here Monday.

The court sent police inspector N.H. Dabhi, police constable Ajay Parmar and head constable Santram Sharma to police remand till May 15.

They were held for their role in the "encounter".
