Kolkata : A possible tragedy was averted Monday with officials recovering two explosive devices from a local train in West Bengal's Howrah station.
Railway sources said two improvised explosive devices (IEDs) in a bag were recovered from the stationary Tarakeshwar local around 10.30 a.m. at Howrah station.
The bombs were being defused, the official said.
In November last year, several people died in a blast that rocked a passenger train in north Bengal, months after the Mumbai train bombings in July 2006 claimed over 200 lives.
A few months ago, explosives were recovered from a local train in Howrah.
