Sanmarga Editor Ibrahim Saeed is no more

Mangalore : Editor Kannada weekly Sanmarga Ibrahim Saeed breathed his last here in the early hours of Sunday following his illness for the past six months. He was 62.
Mr. Saeed was recognised not only as Editor Sanmarga (which means the Righteous Path) for the last 30 years but as a thinker and scholar in the State.

He has also written 22 books in Urdu and Kannada and translated 25 books from Urdu into Kannada and thus contributed significantly to the field of Kannada literature. He was also recognised as a columnist in Prajavani Kannada daily, writing under the nom de plume ‘Sanmargi.'

Besides, he was a fluent orator in Kannada, Urdu and other languages.
He also served as president Shanti Publications and Amir Karnataka-Goa zone of Jamaat-e-Islami Hind during the last four-year term 2003-2006.

Ibrahim Saeed was laid to rest here after Asr prayers Sunday. He is survived by his wife, four sons and four daughters.
Chief Minister H D Kumaraswamy, former chief minister Dharam Singh, state opposition leader Mallikarjun Kharge, former central minister C K Jaffer Sharief and many others have expressed condolence on the demise of Ibrahim Saeed. Some of them visited Ibrahim's residence and paid their last respects.
