As a precautionary move to protect the author, there was a proposal to urge her to move out of West Bengal, informed sources in the home ministry said here.

Nasrin, living in India for years, had also come under attack in Hyderabad earlier this year, with a section of the Muslim community continuing to object to her writings.

A programme in Kolkata to protest against Nasrin’s stay in India as well as atrocities in Nandigram region snowballed into arson and violence, leading to deployment of the army in that city for the first time in 15 years and imposition of night curfew.
