New Delhi : The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Tuesday conducted a polygraph test on industrialist Ashok Todi’s brother Pradeep in connection with the mysterious death of Muslim youth Rizwanur Rahman in Kolkata.

“A polygraph test was conducted on Pradeep Todi and one accused person to verify and reconfirm some details, which they had told us in Kolkata,” said a CBI official.

“Pradeep Todi was also questioned at length on Monday,” the official added.

A polygraph test, also known as lie detector test, is not admissible as evidence in a court of law, but is a potent tool used by the police to corroborate evidence already obtained through investigation.

Earlier this month, the CBI had summoned the Todi brothers to its headquarters here, but failed to conduct a lie detector test on Ashok Todi after he was declared medically unfit.

Rizwanur, 30, was found dead Sep 21, barely a month after his marriage with Ashok Todi’s daughter Priyanka.

The industrialist allegedly threatened his son-in-law with dire consequences and put pressure on him through police to annul the marriage.

Before his death, Rizwanur, a computer graphic designer, accused four senior Kolkata Police officers of harassing him.

The CBI, which took up the case from Kolkata Police on the directions of the Calcutta High Court, has already questioned the Todi brothers and Priyanka in Kolkata.
