London : Visiting Aston Villa climbed to sixth in the table as they beat Blackburn Rovers 4-0 in an English Premier League match Wednesday.
Blackburn had lost only two of their 13 games this season, but they fell behind after 29 minutes as John Carew headed in Ashley Young’s free-kick.
The home side had defender Ryan Nelsen sent off for a professional foul on Gabriel Agbonlahor seven minutes after half-time, and Gareth Barry converted the subsequent penalty.
Young added a third with a late curler, before Marlon Harewood, pouncing after Carew’s shot had been blocked with his first goal for the club, made absolutely certain of Villa’s fourth straight win.
