The minister reaffirmed the commitment of the Sudanese government to implementing the CPA, saying that there were few unresolved issues and these would be solved by a joint committee set up by the two sides.

As for Darfur, the minister reiterated the government’s commitment to dialogue and to exerting its utmost efforts to make a success of the coming Tripoli negotiations between Khartoum and the armed groups in that region.

The international community should also pressure those armed movements that reject the peace process as well as punish them for their impeding stance, he added.

Natsios commended the Sudanese President’s declaration of a ceasefire during the Tripoli talks, saying that the declaration would help make the negotiations a success.

He also explained that he met during his visit to Southern Sudan with a number of officials and had become acquainted with the rehabilitation process as well as the resettlement of displaced persons there.

In Neyala and Zalengi, Natsios met with leaders of the tribes and phoned Abdul Wahid Mohammed Nour and urged him to join the political process in a view that his absence is not good to the people.

In Damazin, the Wali (governor) of Blue Nile State, Malik Aggar, received Natsios, who was accompanied by the US Charge d’Affaires in Sudan. Natsios and Aggar held a meeting at the headquarters of the Secretariat General of the state government.

The US Charge d’Affaires said in a press statement to SUNA that their visit came in the framework of the US Administration’s efforts for enhancing its dialogue with Sudan and to discuss the possibility of increasing US aid for Sudan in general and Blue Nile State in particular.

The US Envoy and the accompanying delegation got acquainted with the current arrangements for launching the Aggar Cultural Centre in Damazin city and visited Russaires Dam.
