Nepali gov’t releases some 2.8 mln USD for displaced

Kathmandu : Nepali government has released a total of 180.9 million Nepali rupees (around 2.8 million U.S. dollars) to provide relief to the people internally displaced by the decade-long internal conflict, local newspaper The Rising Nepal reported on Saturday.

According to Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction, Shyam Sundar Sharma, the amount released from the Peace Fund has already been sent to all the districts. They were sent to the District Administration Offices.

The relief amount will be received by the 24,991 members of 7,373 households identified as internal displaced people by the Ministry.

The relief assistance would be distributed as per the relief distribution guidelines approved by the Council of Ministers.

Among the total amount released from the Peace Fund, around 89.9 million Nepali rupees (around 1.4 million U.S. dollars) has been allocated for ration, 73.6 million rupees (around 1.2 million U.S. dollars) for house renovation and construction and about 5 million rupees (78 thousand U.S. dollars) for educational relief.
