Abu Dhabi : Mass wedding ceremonies have been planned across the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on Dec 2, the National Day that celebrates the formation of the federation in 1971.
Minister of Social Affairs Maryam Mohammed Khalfan Al Roumi, who is also the chairperson of Marriage Fund, made an open call to all eligible citizens of UAE to tie the knot at the ceremonies, WAM news agency reported Wednesday.
Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed-bin-Rashid Al Maktoum is patronising the event, called Weddings of Emirates.
Al Roumi pointed out that the Marriage Fund would play its role in highlighting the importance of stable family life and family integrity as a way to prosperity, as envisaged in the federal strategy.
