Tehran : Bahraini Foreign Minister Sheikh Khalid Bin Ahmed Al-Khalifa on Thursday expressed pleasure with outcome of Summit of leaders of the Caspian States held in Tehran on October 16.
Al-Khalifa made the remarks in a meeting with Iranian Ambassador to Bahrain Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in Manama, adding that the 25-point statement of the leaders has proper subjects including the issue that the five Caspian Sea littoral states will not allow a third country to make use of their land to attack any other nation.
Pointing to the importance of signing free trade agreement between Iran and member states of the Persian Gulf Cooperation Council, the Bahraini official expressed his country’s readiness to ink such an agreement with the Tehran.
The Second Summit of Caspian Sea littoral states was held in the presence of five presidents from Russia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Iran in Tehran.
Al-Khalifa expressed his country’s eagerness to hold Tehran-Manama joint committee comprised of Iranian and Bahraini officials in Manama, underlining that the meeting will be held as soon as possible.
Amir-Abdollahian extended an invitation from Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki to his Bahraini counterpart to take part in a joint conference of parliament speakers and foreign ministers of Asian countries in Tehran on November 19.
Bahraini foreign minister welcomed the invitation, and the two sides held talks on issues of mutual interests.
