In the absence of Wipro chairman Azim H Premji in the city, Sudip Banerjee, President, Enterprise Solutions, received Pawlenty and conducted a tour of the campus in the electronics city.

According to a company statement, a presentation on the IT major’s global operations was made to the delegation that is on a trade mission to India.

The objective of the trade mission is to explore business opportunities in India and develop strategic tie-up with Wipro, which has a development centre in Minnesota.

“Wipro’s presence in our state is an example of the mutual benefits that better trade ties with India can lead to,” Pawlenty said.

About 500 professionals work at the company’s Minnesota facility and client locations in the state.

Wipro’s presence in the mid-western state is a part of its overall growth strategy in the US to build global delivery capabilities.

Banerjee said: “We are very pleased to welcome the Governor of Minnesota and the trade delegation to Wipro, Bangalore.”

“In Minnesota, we have found an ideal location to serve Fortune 500 firms in retail and healthcare space. The state has a strong presence in both the verticals. We are seeing rapid growth in these and other sectors in the state,” said Banerjee.
