New Delhi : Tata Steel registered a net profit of Rs.11.9 billion, an increase of eight percent for the quarter ending Sept 30, based on increased sales and higher exports compared to the preceding quarter.
The company also posted a total income of Rs.48.79 billion as against Rs.43.79 the same period last year.
The firm’s steel production rose to 1.28 million tonnes during the current quarter compared to 1.26 million tonnes last year.
Its export turnover stood at $146.42 million, which was $116.99 million during the second quarter of 2006. Its total export turnover for the first six months of this year was $234.61 million, which during the same period in 2006 stood at $216.37.
