New Delhi : Russia could sign an agreement with India next month to build four more reactors for the Kudankulam nuclear power plant in Tamil Nadu, a senior Russian official said here Tuesday.
“The issue is being discussed” and the agreement could be signed during Prime Minister Manmohan Singh’s visit to Moscow Nov 11-12 for his annual summit with Russian President Vladimir Putin, acting security council secretary Valentin Sobolev told reporters here.
Sobolev arrived here Monday on a four-day visit for discussions on bilateral cooperation and the global security scenario ahead of Manmohan Singh’s visit.
During the visit, Sobolev will hold talks with National Security Advisor M.K. Narayanan and other senior officials.
Narayanan had visited Moscow in August for talks with his Russian counterpart.
Sobolev’s visit comes on the heels of the Oct 16-19 visit to Moscow of Defence Minister A.K. Antony during which some irritants in the defence ties between the two countries were ironed out.
