Washington : Six years after the 9/11 terror attacks, only three in 10 Americans believe the nation is winning the war on terror, a new CNN poll has found.
The poll, released on the 6th anniversary of the 9/11 attacks, found half of the respondents think neither side is winning the war on terror, while 19 percent said the terrorists have the upper hand.
Fifty-seven percent believe terrorists would find a way to launch attacks no matter what the US government did. Forty percent said they would not.
Nearly two-thirds of those surveyed said the United States would never return to normal, while 30 percent said eventually, things would go back to the way they were.
The poll was conducted last Friday to Sunday among 1,017 American adults.
Nearly 3,000 people were killed on Sep 11, 2001, when hijacked planes slammed into New York World Trade Center’s twin towers, the Pentagon and a field near Shanksville, Pennsylvania.
The attacks shocked a country that had largely felt insulated against terrorism, at least on its home turf.
