Eight International Companies shortlisted to build power production in Oman

Muscat : Oman Power and Water Procurement Company S.A.O.G announced the qualification of eight local and international companies to build, own and operate the new power and water desalination plant in Salalah, with a capacity of 400 mega watt and 15 million gallon per day.

In a statement to Oman News Agency (ONA), Mohammed bin Abdullah al Mahrouqi, Chairman of the Public Authority for Electricity and Water said that the power and water plant in Salalah is part of the initiatives taken by Oman Power and Water Procurement Company S.A.O.G to avail electricity and water for Dhofar and its affiliated areas and meet the growing demand which comes as a direct result of the construction, tourism and economic boom currently witnessed by the Governorate.

The qualification of eight companies came after verification of the qualification documents submitted by 21 local and international companies interested in the project. The formalities of the tender are expected to be completed next October, he continued.

It is worth-mentioning that the eight companies which qualified are International Power, Mubadala National Trading, Maropini Corporation, Neon Vinosa, General Electric International, Semicorb Yitilitz, Malcov Pierrehard, Saudi Ogeh, Mitsoi, W.J Towel and Transfeild Service Infrastructure.
