Coimbatore: PDP leader Abdul Nasser Mahdani along with seven others has been acquitted of all charges for their involvement in the 1998 serial blast case.
The blasts on February 14th, 1998 during a meeting of BJP leader LK Advani killed 58 people. 166 were accused for these blasts, 158 have been convicted of various charges including 70 for major charges.
On August 1st of this year, court had exonerated eight accused and released on bail. On Friday, Special Sessions Court (blast cases) Judge K. Uthirapathi acquitted the eight accused saying they are not guilty of any involvement in the blasts.
Abdul Nasser Mahdani, Naushad, Sardar alias Saithan,
Mohammed Ashraf, Subair M V, Army Raju, Shivakumar and Shivakumar
alias Akkoji will now be released.
PDP leader Mahdani spent 9 years in prison for a crime he didn’t commit.
