Islamabad : At least five people were killed and 21 injured in an explosion at an oxygen cylinder storage facility in the central city of Faisalabad Wednesday, the police said.
The powerful accidental blast destroyed the three-storey building burying some of the dozen residents under the collapsed structure.
“Rescuers have pulled five bodies and 21 injured out of the rubble,” Superintendent of Police Yousaf Malik said.
He added the toll could increase as some of the injured taken to the hospital were in critical condition.
Blasts at storage facilities and gas refilling plants, some illegally established in congested residential areas, are common in Pakistan and account for several deadly accidents each year.
