The party cited a recent case related to stopping illegal construction on government land. Housing Minister Jobha Manjhi had on March 17 assured the assembly that a vigilance probe would be ordered into alleged illegal construction being carried out by private builders on government land at Sahjanand Chowk in Harmu locality and a report submitted.

According to the BJP, the housing department has still not written to the vigilance department asking for a probe.

Citing another instance, it said that Bengali was accorded second language status in the state. Assembly Speaker Aalamgir Aalam in December last year asked the government to fulfil the formalities for it within 45 days. Although more than three months have elapsed, it is still to be done.

“The Madhu Koda government does not take seriously the assurances given on the floor of the house. If such assurances are not fulfilled then what will be the plight of the people,” asked Pashupati Nath Singh, state BJP president.

Reacting to the charges, Parliamentary Affairs Minister Stephen Marandi said: “The state government takes the assurances given on the floor of the house seriously. The implementation gets delayed due to departmental procedures.”
