Toronto : Indian kidney racket kingpin Amit Kumar’s house here, which was listed online for sale March 6 but withdrawn from the market four days later, is once again up for sale.
Located on Pali Drive in the Toronto suburb of Brampton, the four-bedroom house was re-listed for sale March 27 at an asking price of $634,900.
The pink-brick house, complete with a swimming pool, was bought by Amit Kumar in February 2007 at a price of $610,000. He reportedly paid $150,000 in cash and secured mortgage worth $457,500 from the Royal Bank of Canada (RBC).
Kumar’s wife, Poonam, and two young sons lived at the house while he spent most of his time in India. He was last with his family here during the Christmas break.
As the news about Kumar’s arrest on Feb 7 from a resort in Nepal was splashed across TV screens, Poonam and the two boys quietly slipped out of the house. Their phone was disconnected “at the customer’s request”. Their whereabouts remain unknown.
As advertised, the house has a total of 5,500 sq ft living space with four bedrooms and 10 other rooms. With a 20-foot-high ceiling and ceramic floors, the house has five washrooms and a den with hardwood floor. It boasts a swimming pool surrounded by a cabana and a green belt at the back.
The online advertisement says the buyer has to make his own financing arrangement. Aug 31 has been listed as the expiry date for the ad.
