Tehran receives no request from Solana: Iranian FM

Tehran : Iran’s Foreign Ministry spokesman Mohammad-Ali Hosseini has said that Tehran has not yet received any request from EU foreign policy chief Javier Solana for negotiations.

Speaking at his first weekly press briefing in the new Iranian year (started March 20) here Monday, he said Solana has had no contact with Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Saeed Jalili either.

He reiterated that Iran’s peaceful nuclear programme is going through its regular process at the International Atomic Energy Agency.

Hosseini, however, voiced Iran’s readiness for dialogue with the European side on other issues.

On the proposal of US Secretary of Defence Robert Gates to Iran for talks with Washington, he said, “If the Americans take basic steps and change their Iran policies, a new opportunity will be created to think about reconsidering Tehran-Washington relations.”
