“The ongoing military escalation against the Gaza Strip is putting the Palestinian leadership that holds talks with Israel in an embarrassing position,” said Hatem Abdul Qadder, who is based in Jerusalem.

Abdul Qadder said in a statement that the Palestinian government in Ramallah can’t isolate itself from what is happening in the Gaza Strip.

On Friday, the Israeli army carried out a military operation east of al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza Strip, killing nine Palestinians, including five children, and wounding 30 others, medics in Gaza said.

Israel said the military offensives aim at fighting militant groups who launch homemade rocket attacks, on a daily basis, against southern Israeli towns.

Abdul Qadder said the Palestinian-Israeli peace talks had reached a deadlock to a certain extent, accusing Hamas for obstructing the efforts aimed at easing the restrictions imposed on Gazans.

Israel imposed a strict blockade on the Gaza Strip after Islamic Hamas movement took control of the enclave and ousted security forces loyal to President Mahmoud Abbas last June.
