Dhaka : At least 17 people were killed and 50 injured when a bus overturned in Bangladesh’s Tangail district early Saturday, the police said.
The accident took place at about 6.45 a.m., some 80 km northwest of capital Dhaka. The driver had lost control of the vehicle.
Sixteen people died on the spot while another died on the way to hospital, the police said. The victims were mostly farm labourers who were on their way to Dhaka from the adjacent Kurigram district.
This was the second accident in three days in the district. Seventeen people were killed and 21 injured when a bus collided with a train April 16.
