Mohali : Mumbai Indians captain Harbhajan Singh Saturday denied having slapped Kings XI Punjab paceman Sreesanth after their match in the Indian Premier League (IPL) here Friday night.
“I didn’t slap Sreesanth. The media is blowing the issue out of proportion,” Harbhajan told IANS.
It was alleged that the Mumbai Indians captain slapped Sreesanth Friday night after the paceman said something to Harbhajan, which offended the off-spinner. The incident left Sreesanth in tears at the Punjab Cricket Association (PCA) Stadium after the Indian Premier League (IPL) encounter.
“Everything has been sorted out between us. He is like a younger brother to me and I have spoken to him after the match was over last night,” Harbhajan added.
Harbhajan, however, declined to comment further when asked what exactly happened on the field that forced him to sort out things with his India teammate.
“I can only tell you that we share a great camaraderie. We have played cricket for India in the past and will continue doing so in the future as well,” he said.
The Mumbai Indians captain, however, had a long chat with Sreesanth in the dressing room of the Punjab team and was believed to have apologised for his behaviour.
