Awad Hohammad Al-Dhafiri, Dr. Abdullah Al-Janfawi, and Dr. Faisal Al-Enezi called at their electoral campaign rally, held late on Saturday, for firm and strict implementation of laws to combat corruption “that has spread throughout all institutions and sectors, including the vital education and health bodies.” The three candidates, who inaugurated their joint campaign headquarters in Al-Jahraa, running in the fourth constituency, noted that choosing members of the government should be based on qualifications and free from factionalism, discrimination, and favoritism.

The trio affirmed MPs’ right to interpellate executive officials over their performance, but stressed that this should not be coupled with political incitement. They held both the executive and legislative authorities responsible for the slow pace of the economic development in the country.

The fourth constituency comprises 18 residential areas, with the electorate amounting to 93,710, including 54,351 eligible women voters.

Meanwhile, Abdel Wahed Al-Awadhi, a candidate for the first constituency, called for interpellations away from personal interests, and criticized those who call for holding parliamentary elections on the basis of a single constituency, while the new five-constituency system has not been tested yet.

Al-Awadhi expressed regret that Kuwait lags behind states of the region in terms of education, health, and economic development.

The electoral nominee, a former minister, called on the next parliament to better coordinate with the government.

The first constituency groups 19 residential neighborhoods. Number of eligible voters amounts to 65,741, including 35,671 women.
